Mary A. Bonner was born and raised in Newnan, Georgia. She is a product of the Coweta County School System where she graduated from Newnan High School. Upon graduating she enrolled at Carroll Tech (West Central Technical College) where she earned a Clerk Typist Certificate. Mary later returned to Carroll Tech and earned diplomas for Computer Programming and Microcomputer Specialist.
Mary’s passion for domestic violence stems from her experiences as a child. She comes from a background of domestic violence. Although she was too young to remember her father’s abuse of her mother, she does remember the physical scars that remained on her mother’s body. Her parents separated when she was a toddler, therefore, she knows first-hand the struggle of raising children alone, first as a child of a single parent and later as a single parent herself.
Mary is the mother of three adult sons and has four grandchildren. Raising her sons as a single mother gave her a strong sense of family values. Her heart is bent towards children and the desire that they have a clean, safe, and long environment in which to grow. Mary is dedicated to the cause of breaking the cycle of domestic violence, strengthening families, and educating the community.
All of Mary’s experience in customer service and office management has prepared her to lead by example. She is effective when communicating with people from all over the world and various walks of life. It is her policy to always treat others the way she would like to be treated, whether in her personal or her profession life. Her favorite scripture is Psalms 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
